Qatar to grant USD1mln fund for Gaza

(MENAFN) On Sunday, the Qatar Red Crescent said that it will fund a full healthcare program worth USD1m in the Gaza Strip, Felesteen.ps has reported.

"The program is going to be carried out over two years and is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services," the organization explained.

The core of the aid program is based on promoting the abilities of Palestinian physicians and contracting with highly qualified foreign doctors with specialisms not found in Gaza's hospitals.

Doctors who are unable to travel abroad to develop their professional skills or study further will also be funded for training within the besieged territory.

Healthcare in the Gaza Strip is suffering from an unprecedented crisis as a direct result of the 11-year siege of the territory led by the Israeli occupation authorities and backed by Egypt and the West.
