Turkish jets hit 8 targets in Iraq

(MENAFN) On Monday, the Turkish military said that its jets destroyed eight targets used as shelters by PKK "terrorists" in northern Iraq on Sunday, Aandolu Agency reported.

"Counter-terror operations" were carried out in Hakurk and Qandil regions, the General Staff said.

Turkey views the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has fought a three-decade insurgency in Turkey as a terrorist group and it is deemed likewise by the United States, the European Union and Turkey.

Turkey-backed FSA militia swept into Afrin town in Syria on March 18, raising their and Turkish flags in the town center and declaring full control after an eight-week campaign to drive out Kurdish YPG fighters.

Turkey has been threatning to launch military campaign against PKK in Syria's Manbij and Iraq's Sinjar.
