Abu Dhabi hits 40.9 percent surge in Chinese visitors


(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi has recorded a 40.9 percent boost in tourists from China, as they reached around 86,400 visitors during January and February in 2018.

The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) found the capital of the UAE to have reported an 83.6 percent increase in February, at the time of the Chinese new year holiday of Spring Festival.

It comes as the UAE set a target for Chinese tourists to hit 600,000 by 2021, DCT Abu Dhabi announced.

Director of Promotions and Overseas Offices of DCT Abu Dhabi Mubarak Al Nuaimi explained "with a diverse range of leisure and entertainment options and plentiful supply of high-quality hotels and shopping malls, Abu Dhabi will continue to position itself as an attractive destination for Chinese travelers."
