Kuwait- No list for granting nationality to 'bedoun' submitted to Interior

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Security sources familiar with the naturalization file said no lists for granting citizenship to the illegal residents or the socalled bedoun has been submitted to the Ministry of Interior by the Central Agency for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents, reports Al-Rai daily.

The sources said the ministry was expecting a list of bedoun since a law on naturalization was passed by the National Assembly not to grant citizenship to more than 4 thousand bedoun in 2018 within the next two months.

It revealed the search mechanism begins with the lists to be sent by the Central Agency to the Evaluation Committee, which comprises representatives from the Council of Ministers, the Central Agency, the Ministry of Defense and Interior. The Committee is competent to review the submitted lists, and then inform the Central Agency whose filed has been accepted and whose file not.
