Kuwaitization policy hurts primary schools for boys
KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Primary schools for boys suffer from lack of female science teachers following the implementation of Kuwaitization policy and ending the contracts of expatriate teachers, reports Aljarida daily quoting educational sources.
They explained that Kuwaiti teachers refuse to move to schools where the services of expatriate teachers were terminated because they are schools for boys.
The pressure on the Kuwaiti teachers working in those schools has increased after the services of their expatriate colleagues were terminated, which resulted in the lodging of several complaints by them. Some schools reduced the number of science classes from two per week to only one in order to deal with the lack of teachers.
Meanwhile, the sources revealed that Ministry of Education has finished preparing lists of expatriate social workers, librarians and lab attendants who will be affected by the Kuwaitization policy. They indicated that the services of these employees will be terminated at the end of the current school year.
The affected teachers complained that the criteria for implementation of the policy were not taken into consideration when their names were listed. Some of them intend to request for a meeting with the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hamid Al-Azmi during which they will lodge their complaints in this regard.
