Pakistan- Lands around Kurram Tangi dam unfit for cultivation due to surge in groundwater level: Owners
A delegation, comprised of local youth and elders, met project director of the dam and told him that water supplied to other areas for irrigation purpose would benefit them but it has rendered their own lands uncultivable.
They informed him of their concerns and demanded payment of compensation as well as recruitment of locals on jobs created in the dam.
Project Director Masood assured the delegation that a committee would be constituted that would work on solution of problems they were faced with. The delegation also threatened to launch a protest drive if their demands were not fulfilled.
