Iraqi bombing likely cause by Australian air strike

(MENAFN) A bombing that smacked Iraq's west Mosul that caused the death of two people and injury of two children was speculated to have originated from an Australian Super Hornet air attack in 2017.

Even though the air strike happened in 3 May, Deputy Chief of Joint Operations Major General Greg Bilton suggested that an inquiry was launched only when Amnesty International spoke about the US coalition disputing with Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Amnesty was said to have got hold of a witness, however he was not questioned as part of any following coalition or Australian probes.

It is likely that people mixed with the incident were a family IS exploited as human shields, the Major reportedly said during a briefing.
