Qatar has strongly condemned and denounced the car bombing that took place in the Rushdi area of the Egyptian city of Alexandria, killing two people and wounding several others.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of motives and reasons.
The statement expressed Qatar's condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Egypt, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

QMC chief meets head of ASBU
HE the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani met the head of Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) Mohamed al-Awash and ASBU Director-General Engineer Abdel Rahim Suleiman.
The meeting discussed different media co-operation aspects between QMC and ASBU, and ways to develop them.

Qatar rejects Eritrean ministry's statement
A Foreign Ministry source expressed Qatar's rejection and condemnation of a press statement made by the Ministry of Information of Eritrea, published on March 22, 2018, which mentioned Qatar as one of the military threats that the Horn of Africa region could face.
The source said that statement contained completely false claims, especially as it contradicts with Qatar's foreign policy principles that respect the sovereignty of other countries and promote peaceful coexistence. The source added that Qatar is keen on the security and stability of the Horn of Africa region. The source also said that the historic bonds between the people of Qatar and Eritrea were strong.

Emir appoints head of ACTA
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emiri decision No 12 for 2018 appointing HE Hamad bin Nasser bin Rashid al-Misned al-Mohannadi as Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA).
The decision is effective starting from its date of issue and shall be published in the official gazette.

NHRC chief meets Italian envoy
Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri met the Italian ambassador to Qatar Pasquale Salzano in Doha yesterday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of co-operation and the exchange of experiences on rights issues.

Qatar-UK anti-terror steps discussed
HE the Attorney-General Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri met the UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt in Doha yesterday. They discussed a number of topics of common interest as well as international action in the field of combating terrorism and its financing.
Both parties agreed to maintain high-level bilateral co-operation in the legal and judicial fields.
