Top police officer gunned down in Faryab
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Taliban have shot dead operational unit commander of police for Sherin Tagab district with sniper shot in western Faryab province, an official said on Thursday.
Police spokesman Abdul Karim Yoresh told Pajhwok Afghan News Zalmai Akbarai -- known as Zalmai Bai -- was shot dead on Wednesday evening while constructing check-post on main road in Sherin Tagab district.
Zalmai was the nephew of Mohammad Hashim Awartaq, member of the Wolesi Jirga.
