Iraq lashes out at Erdogan's threats

(MENAFN) Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim el Caferi held a meeting with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız on Wednesday to discuss Turkish threats against Shebgal.

Caferi's office issued a written statement after the meeting that said, "Iraq will not allow the presence of any forces that carry out military operations in neighboring countries on its territory."

Caferi said the Iraqi government won't accept the Turkish forces invading the border and demanded Turkey pull their forces in the Bashika camp.

Following the massacres in Afrin, Turkish President Erdogan frequently threatens Kurds with invasions. In a statement made on Monday, he threatened they could "one night suddenly" enter Shengal.
