Jordan- Rise in temperatures expected over weekend


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 22 (Petra) -- A tangible rise in temperatures is expected on Thursday, so warm and spring- like weather will prevail in the hilly areas, while it will be hot in the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.

Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach 29 degrees Celsius, while standing at 28 in the northern and southern cities. At night, mercury levels will drop reaching 16 in the capital,17 in the northern parts and 12 in the southern cities. The weather will be hotter in the port city of Aqaba with highs jumping to 39 degrees and lows standing at 23, the JMD added.

A further rise in mercury levels is forecast on Friday, becoming 11-12 above their annual average and bringing dry and relatively hot conditions in many parts of the Kingdom, while it will be hot in the Dead Sea, the Jordan Valley and Aqaba . Winds will be southeasterly to southwesterly moderate to brisk, blowing dust at times , the JMD added.

Temperatures will drop again on Saturday. Therefore, pleasant weather will prevail across the country with northwesterly brisk winds, blowing dust at times, the department noted.
