google lets users try Android gaming apps before installing them
21 Mar 2018
Google has rolled out its Google Play Instant service for games at the ongoing Game Developer conference (GDC) in San Francisco.
Google Play Instant, present inside the Google Play Store, allows users to try games before having to download them.
Through it, users can access a part of a game in its full, native experience, including all features and gameplay.
Try games like Clash Royale, Words With Friends 2, Solitaire
Win-Win
With this, Google has created a win-win situation by supporting both, one of the biggest developer communities and avid gamers who would want to check out a gaming app before committing their phone's storage space to it.
The service currently supports select gaming titles that include Clash Royale, Words With Friends 2, Bubble Witch 3 Saga, Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire, and Solitaire.
Google Play Instant is currently in beta stage
Fact
Google Play Instant, earlier called Instant Apps, was first introduced last year for a wide array of apps like Skyscanner, NYTimes Crossword Puzzle, and the UN's ShareTheMeal. The Android-exclusive technology is currently in a closed beta stage and available to only eight developer partners.
Here's how you can access the trials of the games
Details
Users can simply tap the "try now" button on the gaming app inside the Google Play Store to play some initial levels of a game.
If you choose to back out of the app, which will be hard since you will be prompted several times to download the game during the trial, it will just go away instead of sitting as an app icon.
Google Play Instant is already a hit
Fact
A company representative said, "Users who have historically abandoned a game are instead trying it out and then installing." One particular game has seen "25% more clicks on store listing pages" and over 30% of users are installing it after the Instant experience, he added.
