Oman- Decline in cases recorded by Public Prosecution


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The total number of cases registered by the Public Prosecution in 2017 has seen a remarkable decline.

This was revealed at a media briefing held at the Public Prosecution Complex on Tuesday.

The total number of cases decreased by 27.1 per cent from 37,972 in 2016 to 27,686 in 2017.

Dr Ahmed bin Said al Shukaily, assistant attorney general and spokesperson of the Public Prosecution, highlighted the major achievements made by the Public Prosecution during the past period and the future plans, as well as the new statistics on the cases investigated by it in 2017.

He said that governorate wise, highest number of cases were from Muscat with 6,435 or 23.2 per cent of the total number of cases , followed by North Batinah (3,674 cases, 13.3 per cent).
