Oman- State Council to discuss Draft Commercial Company Law


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The State Council will hold on Tuesday and Wednesday, its fifth and sixth regular sessions of the third year of the sixth period, chaired by H E Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, chairman of the council. It will be held in the presence of the members and the secretary general of the council.

The agenda of the fifth meeting includes, the opening statement by the State Council chairman, assessment of the outcome of the fourth regular session, discussion of the draft Commercial Companies Law transmitted by the Council of Ministers and the report of the Economic committee regarding it.

At its sixth meeting to be held on Wednesday, the council will complete discussing the draft Commercial Companies Law, approve the final version of rules of procedure of the State Council submitted by the Legal committee, stated a press release.

It will also discuss the proposal submitted by the Legal committee on the study and review of the land laws of the sultanate to be studied during the forthcoming period.

At the session, the council will note a number of reports and themes. It will include a report on the eleventh periodic meeting of excellencies and presidents of the Legislative Assemblies of the States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held in Kuwait between January 8 and 9, 2018, as well as the report pertaining to the council's participation in the Conference of the Union of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Tehran from January 15 to 17.

It will also look at the report relating to the Omani Cultural Exhibition hosted at the European Parliament between November 6 to 10, 2017, the general report on the meeting of the Working Group on 'mechanisms for the empowerment of women to reach elected councils' with the committee for the follow-up to the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). Additionally the report on the recommendations of the Oman Human Resources Forum (first session 2018) will also be reviewed.

The council will also be briefed at the meeting on the report of the secretariat on the activities of the council and a report on the functioning of the standing committees of the council.
