Oman- Iranian President meets H E Alawi, discusses regional and trade issues


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani received H E Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs and the accompanying Omani delegation visiting Tehran,on Sunday.

At the meeting, President Rouhani conveyed greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and stressed on the strong relations between Oman and Iran.

He described the relations as a model for cooperation among states in the region contributing to enhanced peace and security.

President Rouhani said that both countries have always called for resolving disputes and crises through dialogues while shunning terrorism and violence.

He said that Iran is boosting cooperation with Oman by implementing joint ventures in the fields of energy, petrochemicals, steel, ports, shipping, transport, commodities and other products.

Speaking on the occasion, H E Alawi stressed on the importance of dialogues and consultations with Iran.

He said that there is a need to adopt common approach to ensure regional peace and security and solve crises through dialogues.

H E Alawi said that Oman is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in energy, investment, trade and port fields.

He affirmed that Oman's stance on Yemen crisis has always been to 'stop the war, shun violence and ensure delivery of aid to the Yemeni people'.
