Video: Sharjah Police help Russian pilgrims get urgent Saudi visas

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A group of 10 elderly Russian pilgrims, who arrived in Sharjah during a 40-day road trip from their country to Saudi Arabia, got stuck as the bus they were travelling in broke down. What's more, as they halted in Sharjah for a few days, their entry visas to Saudi Arabia expired.

The Sharjah Police contacted the pilgrims, telling them that they must get fresh visas to enter Saudi Arabia. Since visa issuance takes time, they felt extremely disappointed, the police added.

The police realized the dilemma of the pilgrims and took matters into their hands. They provided them the necessary support, while hosting the group in a luxury hotel to make the pilgrims feel at ease.

Simultaneously, the police contacted the Saudi embassy to issue visas for the pilgrims, and stood with them until they left the UAE.

Sharjah Police chief Brigadier Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi said, "We helped the pilgrims out of our sense of responsibility and to abide by our values and traditions, which teach us to respect guests."
