Oman- Mazoon Electricity Company renews its ISO certificate


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As one of the first companies to obtain the ISO certificate in Information Management Security in 2014, Mazoon Electricity Company renewed the ISO certificate ISO21001:2013 of the internationally recognised information management system that upholds the global standards for information security.

The renewal took place during the reception of the officials of the TUV Rheinland company, the donor of the certificate, at the headquarters of the Mazoon Electricity Company.

The renewal of the certificate for the next three years comes as a continuation of the company's efforts to build a work environment supportive of information security through the adoption of international standards.

The CEO of Mazoon Electricity Company, eng Zaher bin Abdullah al Abri, said that the company's renewal of the ISO27001: 2013 certification for the information security management system is another achievement achieved by the company in its line of work. The certificate is a recognition of the effort and work done by Electricity Mazoon within the field of information technology, and is the company's backbone for its services and systems.

He added that the company has made a number of updates to its IT systems, enabling them to provide the latest electronic services in line with the company's strategic plan, and is keen to continuously update the systems of both information and communication technology to facilitate the daily operations, while ensuring compliance with the standards of IT security.

Dr Sultan bin Salem al Yahya'i, director of Information Technology at Mazoon Electricity Company, said that the ISO certification is the result of the establishment of an information security management system in accordance with the highest international standards and equipped with advanced technical specifications such as operating systems, surveillance systems, security and protection systems, which prevent interruption of services and assures business continuity.

He added that the company has completed all the necessary steps to achieve compliance with the security standards required to obtain accreditation and renewal of the certification for three years to come. A few months ago, a team of IT staff was formed to ensure the achievement of standards and data readiness, security risk management, business continuity, human resources and operations management, system development, protection and other standards.

ISO 27001: 2013 is an international standard designed to provide a benchmark for the creation, implementation, operation, monitoring, review, maintenance and development of information security management systems. This standard is based on the principle that each company must design, implement and maintain a coherent set of processes and systems to manage risks that may compromise its information assets.
