Qatar- QSE index gained 539.45 points last week

DOHA: Qatar stock market made a significant recovery during the last week, lifting the Qatar Stock Exchange's (QSE) main index by 6.49 percent, or 539.45 points, to finish at 8,847.79 points.
Market cap rose by 8.03 percent to reach QR480.67bn compared to QR444.93bn at the end of previous week.
Trading value during last week increased by 273.49 percent to reach QR2.77bn compared to QR742.66m.
Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value last week with 33.82 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 18.42 percent. Insurance sector accounted for 17.89 percent and Transportation sector accounted for 12.86 percent.
Trading volume increased by 125.18 percent to reach 89.78 million shares, as against 39.87 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 99.48 percent, to reach 29,051 transactions as compared to 14,563 transactions. Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume last week with 25.24 percent of the total traded volume. Industries sector accounted for 22.65 percent. Insurance sector accounted for 16.49 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 14.92 percent. Banking and Financial Services sector also led the traded number of transactions last week with 32.24 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 19.11 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 14.69 percent and Insurance sector accounted for 10.50 percent.
Out of the 45 listed companies at the QSE, 29 ended last week higher, while 15 fell and one remained unchanged.
Qatar Insurance led trading value during last week accounted for 17.51 percent of the total traded value. QNB accounted for 16.15 percent and Qatar Navigation accounted for 9.62 percent, reports QNA.
When compared on daily basis, the QSE's benchmark index gained 97.47 points, or 1.11 percent, yesterday compared to previous day's closing.
The volume of shares traded increased to 34.49 million from 18,038,700 on Wednesday and the value of shares increased to QR1.04bn from QR470.55m on Wednesday.
Out of the 45 companies, shares of 44 saw trading yesterday. Of these, 25 companies gained, 18 closed lower, and one remained unchanged.
Indices of two sectors ended in red and five sectors ended in green yesterday. QSE Total Return Index gained 1.11 percent to 15,412.18 points and QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index increased 0.83 percent to 3,601.29 points. QSE All Share Index added from 1.02 percent to 2,539.25 points.
