(MENAFNEditorial) 'The Messiah's Donkey, according to Jewish tradition, refers to the donkey upon which the Messiah will arrive to redeem the world in the last days. This is believed by many Christians throughout the world to be the fulfillment of the prophecy in the Bible book of Zechariah 9:9, where it says: 'your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Chazal, a scholar interprets that the ‘king' mentioned in this Bible verse is The Messiah. Also, that Jesus appeared to the people of Jerusalem as king of all Jews. He came on a donkey!
Although there are several controversies on the fulfillment of this Bible verse, especially between Muslims and Christians, some scholars are of the opinion that Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem amid cheering crowds. This is cited in the Bible verse of Mark 11: 1-11. However, some Muslim historians and scholars believe that the prophecy of the 'Messiah's Donkey came to pass when Umar ibn al-Khattab travelled alone with one donkey and one servant to Jerusalem. Upon arrival, he was greeted by Sophronius, and he was awed that the caliph of the Muslims, one of the most important people in the world came visiting him.
Chanan Ziderman, Director of the Temple 3 Foundation, said in an interview that there will come again a broader fulfillment of the Messiah's Donkey prophecy in the 'last days.
