UAE- 5 student teams win big for their designs for the future


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A T-shirt that hydrates the wearer, a sports bag with a waterproof speaker, and fibre optic accessories for dresses - these are some of the inventions by a group of Dubai students who won in a category at a design challenge.

More than 1,200 students took part in the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation's (DIDI) Project Design Space challenge, but only 15 teams made it to the finals.

Students from Gems Millenium School won the wearable tech design challenge. "I think our invention really represents how wearable technology and fashion can blend together," Avikalp Kishore, a team member, said.

Students from the Nord Anglia International School won Expo 2020's challenge, which was to create an experience for multinationals to connect easily. They designed 'Expop' - an interactive game where visitors waiting in queues can interact with each other and take part in engaging games, to win merchandise or redeem points. The winning team, students of the Dubai Scholars Private School, designed an interactive recycling machine for plastic bottles.Another design challenge for students was creating a car showroom of the future. Students from The Applied School of Technology RAK won this one, with their transportable car showroom idea. The English College won the best design concept for outdoor solutions to drive pedestrian traffic. The winning teams received certificates and trophies.
