British envoy opens 'Study in the UK Exhibition' 2018

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) British ambassador to Qatar Ajay Sharma inaugurated the British Council's annual ‘Study in the UK' exhibition at La Cigale hotel yesterday. The two-day event, which concludes today, is being held under the theme ‘Experience Life Changing Learning.
The event will connect students in Qatar with representatives from 19 visiting UK Universities, Colleges and English language providers who can answer their questions about UK education.
The opening ceremony yesterday was also attended by British Council Qatar director Dr Frank Fitzpatrick, official delegates from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, UK institutions and around 50 representatives from local scholarship providers and school counsellors in Qatar.
Students have the opportunity to find out all they need to know about foundation courses, English Language courses, career-based diplomas, first degree and postgraduate degree courses. Parents and students can speak directly to representatives from 19 well-known UK institutions.
New data released by the UK's Higher Education Statistics Agency shows that numbers of students from Qatar studying in the UK went up 13% for the 2016/17 academic year to over 3,000 students.
Sharma, said, 'British educational institutions remain the best in the world and students who graduate from the UK are equipped with highly sought-after skills, which are immediately applicable in the global workplace. The experience of studying in the UK is also, I believe, second to none. I would encourage young people thinking seriously about their futures to visit the British Council's ‘Study in the UK' Exhibition this month to see the exciting educational opportunities the UK has to offer.
Dr Fitzpatrick, said that 'There are many reasons why students in Qatar and across the globe consider studying in the UK. The first is that UK qualifications provide an internationally recognised boost to salaries and work experience. The UK is also the top destination worldwide for English language study and a welcoming country offering unique opportunities to discover the country's culture and cities.
