EPA chief lauds Kuwaiti voluntary teams' role in environment protection


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, March 11 (KUNA) -- Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Sabah has applauded Kuwait voluntary teams and civil society organizations' success in raising awareness about environment protection.

Speaking at the opening session of the first forum for Gulf environment voluntary teams and civil societies, Sheikh Abdullah noted the Kuwaiti teams had also helped boost social responsibility towards environment and unified efforts of government and non-government organizations to safeguard the environment.

He pointed out the forum is meant to exchange expertise, enhance mutual cooperation, achieve partnership through well-studied mechanisms to help Gulf states achieve their goal of educating the society about environment conservation.

It also aims to study the success stories of the environment teams and societies in the Gulf states to achieve the aspired integration between the government and civil society organizations.

He wished the forum the greatest success and to end up with a set of recommendations to materialize its objectives including formulating a charter for partnership between government and non-government organizations to promote voluntarism among different segments of the society.

The three-day forum brings together voluntary teams and civil organizations from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. (end) zak.tab.ibi
