Syria's opposition coalition calls for implementing UNSCR 2401

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, March 10 (KUNA) -- The National Coalition of Syrian revolution and Opposition Forces on Saturday held its 38th session and discussed means of implementing the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution 2401.

The conferees focused on the repeated use of chemical weapons by Bashar Al-Assad Regime amid the international failure to implement the UNSC resolutions pertaining to Syria, said a statement by the coalition's media center.

They also dealt with the latest Political developments and the negotiation dossier, and reviewed the constitutional process completely in accordance with UNSC resolution 2254, the statement added.

They reiterated that Russia is Al-Assad regime's partner in committing crimes, and that it does not keep its promises, considering its position as an inequivalent to its UNSC permanent membership.

On Friday, Salwa Aksoy, the coalition's vice-president, affirmed that Russia's continued military attacks on civilians in support of Al-Assad regime will not change Syrians' position calling for freedom and toppling the regime.

UN resolution 2401, adopted unanimously late last month, called for a 30-day truce in Syria to pave way for delivery of humanitarian supplies for the needy. (end) ta.hm
