Morocco: Ghanaian national arrested over cocaine smuggling attempt
(MENAFN) On Friday, a Ghanaian national was arrested at Mohammed V International Airport in the Moroccan city of Casablanca for attempting to smuggle 4.1 kg of cocaine, Morocco's police said in a statement, Xinhua reported.
Arriving from Sao Paulo in Brazil, the drug was hidden in the backpack of the 41-year-old suspect, the statement added.
The suspect was returned to custody to complete the investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's, it noted.
Morocco has seized a record 2.84 tons of cocaine in 2017, 1.5 tons more than the amount seized in 2016.
