Jordan- ACC president: We seek to boost economic cooperation with Brazil

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 10 (Petra)--President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Issa Murad voiced keenness of the trade sector to expand cooperation with Brazil in the economic, trade and investment fields.
In a statement to Jordan News Agency, Petra, he said the private sector is willing to benefit from the Brazilian market and its diverse products including foodstuffs, meat, poultry, car spare parts and heavy industries.
Murad called for opening new channels to develop economic relations between the Kingdom and Brazil, and encourage the private sector to establish joint investment projects and increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
His Majesty King Abdullah II discussed with Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira a few days ago, the signing of an investment promotion agreement between Jordan and Brazil, as well as ways of benefiting from the framework cooperation agreement with MERCOSUR countries which includes Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
The ACC president stressed the importance of developing the legal framework to boost trade with Mercosur, the most important economic integration in South America that includes Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Venezuela, which has become one of the largest economic blocs in the world.
During the Brazilian foreign minister's visit to the Kingdom last week, the two countries signed a technical cooperation agreement between Jordan and Brazil to promote technical cooperation in the agricultural, health, education and other sectors.
Jordan's imports from Brazil stood at JD179 million last year, while exports amounted to less than $1 million.
The volume of trade exchange between Arab countries and Brazil has risen from $13 billion in 2007 to $20 billion in 2017.
