Kuwait- Airbus gets USD 273 mln helicopter contract from US army

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, March 9 (KUNA) -- European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Industries announced on Friday it had been awarded a USD 273 million contract to supply helicopters to the US army.

The contact comprises UH-72A "Lakota" helicopters that perform various missions such as patrol, homeland security, rescue, troop and VIP transport and light cargo carriage.

Airbus said that since 2005 it has supplied 412 "Lakotas" to the North American market from its US production site in Columbus, Mississippi.

Helicopters are a small but increasing part of the Airbus palette of aircraft and represent a growing segment of the company's USD 67 billion in revenue reported in 2017. (end) jk.hm
