Kuwaiti official lauds outcomes of CoE delegation visit

KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- Assistant Foreign Minister for Europe Affairs said Thursday the delegation of the Council of Europe (CoE) Middle East-Gulf Working Group held fruitful talks on ways to promote the relations between Kuwait and the European Union.
The delegation's visit, which started on Tuesday and concluded today, was part of the regular visit exchanges between Kuwait and the various EU institutions, Waleed Al-Khubeizi told KUNA.
Such visit help promote the economic, political, security and humanitarian cooperation between the two sides, he pointed out.
The agenda of visit of the CoE delegation was organized by the Foreign Ministry, he said, noting that both sides explored how to add momentum to the cooperation between the Ministry and the European External Action Service (EEAS).
Al-Khubaizi added that the relations with the EU grew remarkably since the signing in 2016 of an agreement by Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minster Khaled Al-Jarallah and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
Kuwait and the EU co-chaired several international conferences the latest of which was the conference on reconstruction of Iraq, hosted by Kuwait on February 12-14, he went on.
During their stay here, the CoE delegation held talks with several officials of the Foreign Ministry and members of the National Assembly, as well as representatives of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KPIDA). (end) nma.tab.gb
