Jordan- Interior minister meets Omani, Iraqi counterparts


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Algiers, Mar. 3 (Petra)- Minister of Interior, Samir Mubaidain, met respectively Wednesday evening with Omani and Iraqi counterparts, Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi, and Qassem al-Araji, on the sidelines of the 35th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.

During talks with al-Busaidi, the minister reviewed the latest developments in the Arab region and challenges facing it, and efforts to push ahead with procedures necessary to implement outcomes of the 35th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers on the ground, in addition to ways to boost bilateral relations in all fields.

On joint cooperation, Mubaidain stressed the need to intensify cooperation programs between Jordan and Oman in various fields, especially in the security domain, to exchange expertise to reduce crime in all its forms, as well as combating terrorism and extremism, and imposing security, a main pillar to guarantee political, economic and social stability of all countries.

During a meeting with the Iraqi counterpart, the two sides discussed ways to foster bilateral relations in the fields of combating terrorism and extremism, as well as border security, warding off human smuggling and trafficking, exchanging information and boosting trade flow through the Karama border crossing.

"Jordan is always seeking to open wider areas of coordination with Badgad, which currently holds the banner of openness with neighboring countries after its defeat of the terrorist movements and organizations, "Mubaidain said, and highlighted common, historical and distinctive traits between the two brotherly countries, especially "as we possess an extensive heritage to build upon and to bolster achievement in various fields of mutual interest".

Mubaidain also expressed hope the outcomes of the meetings of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers will turn into tangible reality, in a bid to reflect positively on strengthening the Arab security network and to increase capability to meet security challenges and concerns.

In turn, the Iraqi minister stressed his country's keenness to develop bilateral relations in various fields, and lauded Amman's role in hosting Iraqis and the good treatment they receive at the official and popular levels, which affirms historic and robust ties between the two countries and their peoples.
