Afghanistan- 54 insurgents killed in military raids


(MENAFN- Afghanistan Times) AT-KABUL: At least 54 militants were killed and 22 others wounded in different crackdowns within past day.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Kandahar, Zabul Takhar Faryab, Farah and Helmand provinces.

Statement said that in these operations 54 insurgents including 10 Daesh affiliates were killed and 22 others wounded.

Afghan forces arrested seven insurgents and handed over them to relevant judicial organs for further inquiry.

The joint Afghan operation was supported by airstrike.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 13 Taliban fighters were killed, seven wounded and five mines discovered and neutralized in Arghandab district of Zabul, 11 insurgents killed, two wounded and seven arrested in Nahr-e-Saraj, Grishk, and Marja district of Helmand, 10 motorbike, three Taliban coordination office, one health center with some ammunition belonged to Taliban were destroyed during operation in the province, 10 Daesh fighters were killed, four wounded and a stronghold destroyed in Nazian and Achin district of Nangarhar, eight terrorists killed in Alingar district of Laghman.

Similar, four rebels were killed and three others wouned in Balablok district of Farah, four Taliban fighters were killed and three others wounded in Gilan district of Ghazni, four insurgents killed and three others wounded in Gomal district of Paktika and Khwaza district of Paktia.

In past 24 hours, 10 planed clearing operations, 18 Special Forces operations conducted in nine provinces; also, Air forces conducted 98 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including five strikes on enemy's sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
