Israel arrests another Palestinian minor after meeting with Erdogan

(MENAFN) After meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Israel occupation forces imprisoned 16-year-old Palestinian Fawzi al-Juneidi.

Last Wednesday, Israeli soldiers detained Juneidi at the airport for meeting with Erdogan during his previous visit to Turkey.

Juneidi was treated poorly and constantly questioned about his meeting with Erdogan, according to reports.

He was also beaten before his release on the same day, and his court hearing, scheduled for May, is constantly being pushed to prevent him from traveling abroad
On another occasion, Juneidi was imprisoned with the claim that he "threw rocks at Israeli soldiers" during demonstrations against a U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist entity. He was released on Dec. 19 when Turkey paid USD3,000 for his bail.

Juneidi became a symbol of the Palestinian resistance against Israel when a powerful photograph of him blindfolded surrounded by over 20 soldiers went viral.

Each year around 500-700 Palestinian children, some as young as 12 years, are detained and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system. The most common charge is stone throwing.

At the end of November 2017, 313 Palestinian minors were held in Israeli prisons as security detainees and prisoners, including 2 administrative detainees. Another 9 Palestinian minors were held in Israel Prison Service facilities for being in Israel "illegally". The Zionist government considers these minors -both detainees and prisoners- criminal offenders.
