Greenland Prime Minister: parliamentary elections to be set for April
(MENAFN) Greenland's Prime Minister Kim Kielsen has declared the date of the parliamentary elections to have been set for April.
During a press conference, the prime minister revealed the vote for the 31-seat parliament to have been scheduled for either April 17 or April 24.
Citing Prime Minister Kielsen, reports said "I have been thinking about calling elections for a long time. Now the election campaign begins. There are several advantages of calling the election now."
Following the resignation of former Prime Minister Aleqa Hammond as a financial scandal emerged in 2014, Kielsen has assumed leadership of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.
