President Trump stated jokingly "he's now president for life," he then added "and look, he was able to do that. I think it's great."
The President then stated amusingly during the address "maybe we'll have to give that a shot some day."
However, the statement has raised concerns on social media even though it appeared as a joke, with California congressman Democrat Ro Khanna stating "whether this was a joke or not, talking about being President for life like Xi Jinping is the most unAmerican sentiment expressed by an American President."
