(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, March 3 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah urged the Islamic movement Hamas on Saturday to enable the national authority administer Gaza as a necessity for attaining conciliation.
The premier, in a statement he made on Saturday in Anbata, the West Bank, said President Mahmoud Abbas and the government were ready to shoulder all necessary responsibilities toward Gaza Strip once the government has been enabled to take over powers there -- as an inseparable part of the Palestinian state.
Up to 20,000 employees from Hamas have been enlisted in the 2018 budget, he said, affirming the approach to resolve all sticking issues that hinder smooth handover of the administrative jurisdictions from Hamas to Abbas' authority.
However, the prime minister called on the Islamic group to enable the government collect fees, impose full control on the passageways, and allow the police to enforce public order in the strip.
Hamas claimed that it had handed over all the administrative departments to the Palestinian government following the October 20 agreement reached in Cairo. (end) nq.rk
