Business forum discusses growth, investment opportunities in Oman
H E Dr Ali bin Masoud bin Ali al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry said the forum is an intellectual development gathering that seeks to achieve coherence among the public and private sectors. 'It also seeks to explore opportunities and share knowledge to build effective partnerships with regional and global forums.'
Dr Ali Qassim Jawad, chairman of Oman Business Forum said, 'The forum discussed growth and investment opportunities in the region and the sultanate in particular. 'The government sector is developing its competitiveness and should benefit from these forums. The private sector should benefit from modern technologies and develop its technical capabilities.'In the next few years, some jobs will disappear from the construction sector in the sultanate. We welcome this step because we will dispense with the expatriate labour and provide many jobs to the Omani youth.' A new initiative by the Sharaka team, the forum seeks to establish a public-private collaboration with a number of objectives such as providing value-added networking, knowledge sharing, collaboration with international platforms.
Yarub Abdullah al Yarubi, policy advisor, at the Diwan of Royal court said, 'The Oman Business Forum membership includes representatives of the government. There are six ministers in addition to all representatives from the private sector in Sharaka. The forum also includes the graduates of the national programmes such as the National CEO Programme, National Leadership and Competitiveness Programme and other programmes that are under way and once they graduate they will join the programme.'
