Bahrain asserts support to UN various organizations


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa reiterated on Wednesday Bahrain's keenness on bolstering aspects of cooperation with the UN agencies towards consolidating the march of development in Bahrain.

Bahrain news agency (BNA) said the Bahraini king hailed solid cooperation binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations, particularly in the environment field.

The Bahraini leader made his remarks as he received the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Erik Solheim, who conveyed greetings from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who wished the people of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.

The King also extended his greetings to Guterres, wishing him success in his efforts to achieve the UN goals.

King Hamad lauded standing cooperation between the Supreme Council for the Environment and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), hailing Bahrain's economic, development, educational and environmental achievements.

The Bahraini leader commended UNEP-led efforts and initiatives, which contributed to promoting sustainable and human development in Bahrain as part of fruitful cooperation with the UN agencies.

He affirmed Bahrain's support to the UN development initiatives, stressing keenness on building an efficient partnership, as part of its commitment to support international efforts and contribute to building a more prosperous future for all people in the world. (end) hmd.mb
