(MENAFN) An agreement with Italy's Eni to set up a 50-megawatt (MW) solar power plant next April is being planned by the Egyptian Electricity ministry.
The plant will be constructed in Abou Redis city in South Sinai Governorate with USD50 million in investment, sources at the ministry told Alborsa News.
The Italian oil and gas company has invited solar energy projects' contractors to submit their technical and financial offers to build the plant, sources added.
More than 23 firms have shown their interest in the project, including Complete Energy Solutions (CES), Elsewedy Electric, and Orascom Construction.
Last December, Italian oil major Eni announced intentions to launch a 50-MW solar power plant in Abou Redis city, with total investment worth USD50 million.
