Saudi: 1st woman to be appointed as deputy amid reshuffling army promotions
(MENAFN) As part of the strategy intended to elevate younger officials in key economic and security areas, some of Saudi's top military officers and several deputy ministers have been reshuffled by King Salman on Monday.
New deputy ministers were appointed to economic and security-related ministries, as well as a slew of new city mayors, including Tamadur bint Youssef al-Ramah as deputy labour minister, a rare senior post for a woman in the deeply conservative kingdom.
Also, the new deputy governor of Asir province is Prince Turki bin Talal, who is the brother of billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who was detained in the government's anti-corruption purge and only released last month.
Saudi analyst Ahmed Al Towayan, speaking on state television, said the new appointments were "pumping young blood" into local government while elevating young commanders into top military posts.
