Two Daesh terrorists killed by Iraqi forces

(MENAFN) Two Daesh (ISIS) terrorists were killed by Iraqi security forces late Monday in the Hawija district of Kirkuk province, Anadolu reports.

Muntazar es-Saadi, media spokesman for the Second Division of the Counterterrorism Police, told Anadolu Agency that security forces started searching near An-Najatiyah village in the Elbu-Hamdan area after receiving intelligence that many Daesh sleeper cells were there.

Saadi said the terrorists opened fire on the security forces and two terrorists were killed, adding that many sleeper cells are still believed to be present in rural areas of Hawija.

Although officials in Baghdad on last December declared Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but dismantled, it appears the group still maintains sleeper cells in several parts of the country, including Kirkuk.
