Jordan- QAIA welcomes over 620,000 passengers in January 2018


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Feb. 26 (Petra)-- The Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 624,207 passengers during January 2018, marking a significant increase of 8.2% in year-to-year passenger (PAX) numbers as compared to the 576,912 passengers received in the same month of last year, according to Airport International Group (AIG) statement.

It said in January, QAIA also registered 5,672 aircraft movements (ACM) as opposed to 5,819 ACM in 2017, effecting a 2.5% year-on-year drop.

Meanwhile, cargo figures increased by 14.8% as QAIA handled 8,074 tons of cargo compared to 7,036 tons during the same month, added the statement, "We are delighted to kick off the year by welcoming more than 620,000 passengers, the highest number of January passengers in QAIA's 35-year long history", said Kjeld Binger, AIG CEO.

Our aim is to see 2018 be yet another successful year to add to our repertoire, as we implement strategies that will improve our services and bolster our operations so that we may continue to maintain QAIA's standing as Jordan's prime gateway to the world," Binger added.
