Official appreciates Kuwait's efforts to foster interfaith peace


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) VIENNA, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has made profound contributions towards interreligious harmony and cross-cultural coexistence, said an official on Monday.

The secretary general of the Vienna-based King Abdullah International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) Faisal Abdulrahman Bin Muaammar made the remarks in a statement to KUNA, as the second edition of an international conference on "Interfaith Dialogue for Peace" kicked off in the Austrian capital.

He welcomed Kuwait's participation in the conference, with a delegation headed by the chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organization Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq, pointing out that the country's humanitarian endeavors are well-chronicled.

Bin Muaammar revealed that KAICIID is in the process of building a regional platform to promote cultural interaction and fellowship between people of different faiths.

The official spoke of ongoing upheavals in various parts of the world, citing Myanmar and Africa as examples, which puts the center in a "race against time." (end) amk.nam
