Oman launches Miraah solar plant
(MENAFN) The launch of Miraah solar project has been declared by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and GlassPoint Solar to take place at the Amal oilfield in the south of the sultanate.
The solar plant was revealed to be, as soon as it concludes, one of the most major solar projects around the globe.
"Deploying solar on Oman's oilfields to reduce the industry's natural gas consumption has a significant and lasting economic benefit for the sultanate," Undersecretary of Oman's Ministry of Oil and Gas Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi confirmed.
He continued "the project, which stands to be among the largest solar projects in the world, has contributed to developing local Omani talent in the renewable energy field and created job opportunities for local companies."
