ABU DHABI, 23rd February, 2018 (WAM) -- The country is set for fluctuating weather patterns starting tomorrow through Monday 26th, according to the National Center of Meteorology which called in a statement today on motorists to take all precautions against poor visibility levels resulting from sand and dust storms, and to stay away from water gatherings, especially those near the highlands.

On Saturday the country will be under the effect of a Red Sea trough at the surface accompanied with an upper trough with cold air mass from the North resulting in a gradual increase in cloud amount with rainfall over coastal areas and the Northern parts, especially at night.

The cold air mass is expected to intensify on Sunday causing unstable conditions to prevail over the country; cloud amounts will continue to increase over scattered parts of the country and will be associated with convective clouds with different intensities of rainfall that may be thundery at times.

Weather continues to be cloudy to partly cloudy on Monday during the day with a continuation of rainfall over the northern and eastern parts of the country. The cloud amount will decreases gradually during the evening and night.

Moreover, southeasterly and northeasterly winds are expected to freshen during this period, becoming strong at times over the sea and as a result of convective clouds; dust or sand blowing may occur and cause a reduction in horizontal visibility over open areas.

The sea will be rough to very rough at times due to the presence of convective clouds.

Sea vessels are advised as well to exercise caution due to sea roughness in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman during this period.
