Kuwaiti FM hosts luncheon banquet or participants in UNSC meeting


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Wednesday held a luncheon banquet in honor of the ministers, senior officials and permanent delegates of the UN Security Council member states taking part in a ministerial-level session of the Council.

The meeting, chaired by Kuwait - the presidency of the Council for February, discussed the theme of "purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations in the maintenance of international peace and security." The banquet gathered the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, former secretary general Ban Ki-moon, Foreign Minister of Cote d'Ivoirea Marcel Amon Tanoh, Foreign Minister of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi, as well as representatives of other UNSC member countries.

Earlier today Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled held talks with Ban following their participation in the UNSC session.

During the talks, the former UN chief lauded Kuwait's effective participation in Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens and the country's acceptance of membership of the Advisory Board of his Centre. (pickup previous) asf.gb
