Oman- Bait al Zubair part of Muscat International Book Fair till March 3

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- For the second year in a row, Bait al Zubair is participating in the International Book Fair to be held till March 3 at the Oman Exhibition Centre.

In the morning, the foundation has set up a series of workshops aimed at school students, including a workshop on the manufacturing of books, the masks industry and art workshop in origami, in order to acquire more skills and encourage them to recognise their abilities and develop their creative talents.

The foundation has planned the Bait al Zubair competition for cultural student groups from higher education institutions. This competition comes as a second phase after the participation of the institutions of higher education in the preliminary screening phase, which qualified eight out of 25 groups.

Mona al Sulaimi, one of the organisers of the event, said. 'I think it is a very important step for Bait al Zubair to dedicate a competition for the student groups at the higher education institutions in its corner at the Muscat 2018 International Book Fair.

This is the first competition of its kind. It is important to build bridges of communication and interaction between these groups and the community, by taking student activities out of the walls of the institutions of higher education, and I expect that this communication which began with this competition would continue to create an impact to various students and other people with the continuous efforts of Bait al Zubair.'

In order to encourage musical knowledge, the foundation has planned in its pavilion during the days of the exhibition a symposium, an introductory seminar on Arabic music that sheds light on the Oud, its techniques and its importance in Arab music.

The speakers of the various schools associated with Oud will discuss the live performance of the Oud instrument. The lecture will be moderated by Dr Nasser bin Hamad al Tai, advisor to the Board of Directors of the Royal Opera House Muscat, with the participation of a wide range of prominent specialists such as artist Fathi al Balushi, Salem al Murshi, Muslim al Kathiri, Al Assad Abbas, Wa'el Qaqeesh and Yacoub al Harazi.
