Two postal stamps launched to mark Qatar Turkey diplomatic relations

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Two postal stamps to commemorate 45 years of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Turkey were launched on Wednesday at a special ceremony at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The stamps, launched jointly by Qatar Post and Turkish Post, were unveiled in the presence of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications' adviser Hassan al-Hail, Turkish ambassador Fikret Ozer, and Qatar Post managing director Faleh al-Naemi.

The stamps feature two historic monuments each from both the countries. They are Al Zubarah Castle and Barzan Castle, Umm Slal from Qatar and Rumeli Fortress, Istanbul, and Ankara Castle from Turkey. About 1,300 stamps in the denomination of QR8.50 have been printed for Qatar while 200,000 stamps in the denominations of Turkish Lira 2 and 4 will be available in Turkey.

'We are very happy to issue a joint stamp between Qatar and Turkey, which have had a very long and strong relationship. We have done several joint initiatives for launching the stamps with other countries in the past, said al-Naemi.

Turkish envoy Ozer said that it was an occasion to commemorate the strong ties between both the countries. 'This is a great occasion and opportunity to celebrate the strong relationship between Qatar and Turkey. We have had 45 years of strong and cordial bilateral relations' said Ozer.

The stamps are available from Thursday at all the branches of Qatar Post all across the country as well as in Turkey. The stamps were designed by Abdellatif Zaian.
