Car exports from Russia to Azerbaijan grow

The volume of Russian exports of new cars (excluding the countries belonging to the Customs Union) reached 38,800 units, which exceeds the result of the previous year by 23.3 percent.

The analytical agency 'Autostat reported that most cars were sent to the Czech Republic-15,700 units (40 percent).

Ukraine is in second place with 3,800 thousand cars, Latvia is in third place-3,500 units.

To China, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Lebanon were exported from 1,000 to 1,500 cars.

The largest share in exports is the Czech brand Skoda, 15,700 of which was exported abroad in 2017.

The second place is occupied by Lada with more than 25 percent or 10,100 exported cars, while the third place is occupied by Renault with 3,700 cars.

In general, in 2017 Azerbaijan imported more than 13,000 vehicles, more than 11,000 of which are passenger cars, according to Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee.

Currently, Azerbaijan, is working to develop its car manufacturing industry and encouraging interior purchases within the country, now is operating with different courtiers to develop its own automobile manufacturing market.

The countryplans to produce cars jointly with Iran and will soon launch manufacture of cars in the Neftchala Industrial District. The plant will operate on the basis of joint project of AzEuroCar LLC and Iran's largest car manufacturer Iran Khodro. The plant was due to open in June, but because of the cold winter there were delays in the plant's construction. The opening is rescheduled for August.

The plant with a capacity of about 10,000 cars per year initially will produce four Iranian car brands Dena, Runna, Soren and Samand.

Production of some spare parts is planned in local factories. For this, proposals will be made to the plants and if the plants receive positive feedback from the Iranian company, then the production of spare parts will launch.

The plant intends to cooperate with the Sumgayit Industrial Park and SOCAR's new plant. Some 20 percent of the vehicleswill be exported to CIS and Central Asian countries.
