Egypt: bids envelope for power plant project opened by EEHC


(MENAFN) Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) was revealed to have opened the financial envelope for the construction of the 6,600 megawatt (MW) Hamrawien Clean Coal Power Plant.

The project is set to be progressed as an Independent Power Project, with its construction site to be at Hamrawein on the Egyptian Red Sea.

Sources have reported a USD4.4 billion bid, considered the lowest, for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement to have been presented by a group that include Shanghai Electric (SEC), Dong Fang (DFC) and Hassan Allam Construction (HAC).

General Electric (GE) has submitted a USD5.8 billion, the second-lowest bid, followed by the third-lowest bid, USD7 billion, presented by a group comprising Mitsubishi Hitachi Power System (MHPS), Orascom Construction (OC) and El Sewedy (PSP).
