Plane crashes in Iran, kills 66 people onboard


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) TEHRAN: A plane heading from Tehran to Yasouj, a city in the southwestern province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, crashed into the mountain on Sunday morning leaving 66 dead.

The ATR aircraft, operated by Asseman Airlines, was first disappeared from radar and reportedly crashed into the Dena mountain range in the Semirom region, Isfahan province, due to the bad weather conditions, Tehran Times reported.

Due to fog and inaccessibility of the mountainous areas, emergency medical services have not succeeded to reach the area yet. However, it is confirmed that all 60 passengers as well as the 6 crew members have passed away.
