Turkey denies chemical weapons use in Syria

(MENAFN) After Turkish Kurdish forces and the Syrian human rights watchdog have accused Turkey of launching a gas attack in the Syrian region of Afrin, Turkish diplomatic source said that his county never used chemical weapons in its operations in Syria and takes full care of civilians.

"These are baseless accusations. Turkey has never used chemical weapons. We fully respect civilians in the olive branch process."

The Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Unit and the Syrian Observatory reported that the Turkish army launched a suspected gas attack that injured six people in the Syrian region of Afrin on Friday.

The Turkish source also described the charges of wounding six civilians "black propaganda."

Turkey launched an air and ground offensive in the Afrin region last month to target Kurdish militants in northern Syria, opening up a new front in the multi-party Syrian war.
