Kandahar prayer leader blown up by own explosives

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A prayer leader has been killed by own explosives in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Matiullah Hilal told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place inside a mosque in the Speerwan locality of the district two days back.

Initially it was unclear as to who was behind the blast, but investigations showed the Imam himself had kept the bomb in the mosque.

Meanwhile, Nusrat Rahimi, the Ministry of Interior€™s deputy spokesman, also confirmed the incident. He identified the imam as Hamidullah.
